Viktor & Rolf Topsy Turvy Boutique

Here are just some images of the Viktor & Rolf Boutique in Milan that is entirely upside down. What an amazing store. If I am in Milan any time soon, then I will be visiting. Its like Alice in Wonderland, but don't look up, (down) you might get dizzy.

Trend Findings, Technology

Julia Krantz - Shell collection - Swedish fashion designer - translucent fabric over lightweight frame.

I think that the possibilities with this technology are limitless. They are so beautiful, angelic and futuristic.

Studio Roosergaarde collaborate with V2 Institute for Unstable Media, Intimacy is a collection of clothing made with plastic e-foil that can alter between transparent and translucent states, depending on the strength of electric current passed through the material.

This is more like performance art than clothing. It's a showpiece and reminds me of work by Hussein Chalayan. A whole new genre of fashion is opening up to new designers, it lives, moves, changes with the body and gives a dynamic to clothing that I know is going to be part of our future.

Vogue Paris March 2007

Lara Stone by Mark Segal styled by Carine Roitfield

I absolutely adore the little cat in this shoot and the whimsy of the look, with the makeup and the hair. The contrast of the cigarette and the baby bottle makes it sort of repulsive but cute. It's all about contrasts to give an image drama.

LASSCO antique store/cafe/bar

We have this idea of choosing a brand to do with food or coffee so firstly we were recommended to visit LASSCO in Vauxhall. We turned the corner past the tube station and there was a huge old brickwork building with odd antiques surrounding it. The main building houses any interior designer's paradise, from Victorian, Edwardian, European to African just to name a few things we saw. Then a little building on the right has what looks like more objects for sale until we spotted used teacups and plates on a table. We went in and it's a working restaurant, there must have been about 15-20 huge chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, with an old stage, booths, and mix match tables and chairs, all of which you can buy. The menu changes every day and each day the new one is posted on their blog here,

I am definitely going back there for dinner at one point, it is close to the river, the station and i can imagine such an atmosphere with the whole room buzzing with people eating there after work on a weeknight.

RED LEOPARD

Last week I had a colour, style, makeup and wardrobe consultation with Kaye at Red Leopard in Kensington. It took all day and was absolutely amazing. I came away with so much information that I thought should be so obvious. Everyone should be taught a certain amount of this stuff at school, it would help us so much with dressing ourselves.

It started with a Colour Review, I did have my colours done when I was very young, but to double check (because it can change) I was confirmed as a 'Sultry Winter'. All colours are basically split into the four seasons and then divided again into lights, darks and brights and I look best in the dark winter colours. Blood Reds, Navy Blues, Emerald Greens, Deep Purples ect.

After colour then body measurements are taken and you are given a shape, I am an inverted triangle because I have wide flat shoulders and a small waist, I also have a long neck and a sharp jawline and a flat sided, heart shape face. From that you are given your best necklines, trouser shapes, skirt lengths, coat styles and an amazing range of do's and dont's in the clothing area. I came away with a handbook with drawings in and notes scribbled all over it and at the back are some bits of advice such as how to dress for occasions, how to budget for clothes, key items your wardrobe needs and how to sensibly shop.

As well as your colour season, you are also given a style genre from a list of personalities. After looking at some of the clothes that I took along for show and tell and taking a quiz, Kaye classified me both as 'Classic' and 'Diva'. Which is spot on for me. I am both of those things and so must have an element of each of them in every outfit I wear.

I also had a quick consultation with a top hair stylist about what haircut would best suit my proportions, how to shape my eyebrows properly and loads more.

The icing on the cake was the little wallet that I got with all of the colour samples of my best colours with ratings for each one and where is best for me to wear it such as, accessory, lower half only, evening wear, lingerie ect.

If you are willing to spend a bit of money on sorting your life out, you must have this done. Details down to the right shape handbag for you and with current, fashionable suggestions as to brands that you are most likely to find your 'style' with.

I am so thankful to Kaye and the money that i'm going to save from not buying clothes that I just end up not wearing or buying something that is a substitute for something else that I can't quite find or can't afford at the moment, weighs out the cost long term.
